I have always been under the impression that by earning a college degree and engaging in active real-life experiences that I could gain enough wisdom to meander my way through life reasonable success. I was wrong, on many fronts. I never thought that in my future I might be required to attend a government-sponsored political correctness class to expand my awareness and to adapt to today’s hyper-sensitive and politically polarized society.
Over the years I have become aware of a new version of political correctness, cultural-appropriation, cultural-misappropriation, cultural conformity, toxic masculinity, gender privilege, gender identity, gender neutrality, or nutarianism, misogyny, homophobia, mass-hysteria, nationalist agenda, globalist agenda, state-sponsored propaganda, sexual harassment accusation pandemic, where anyone accused is guilty by public opinion, no proof required. I also learned about how illegal aliens show up in staggering numbers and demand free medical and social services, then return to their own countries. I became aware of the expansive power of the “deep state” otherwise known as the “swamp.”
Now I feel the pressure to self-censor myself regarding my thoughts, dreams, aspirations, and values. No intellectual inquisition expressed opinions, ideas, nor wisdom is encouraged. Silence is the golden and coerced objective. What is demanded is transparency, submission, and obedience! The current hyper-sensitivity and mass-hysteria make up a strategy to defeat individualism and self-sufficiency. Avoiding discriminating against almost everyone and anything that exists, in most cases, requires submission in the form of silence. Most see older people as being transparent to the outside world, absent of opinion, as though we did not exist. There is an unstated presumption that old age assumes institutional irrelevance.
One morning I responded to a knock on the door. When I answered, as any courteous, obedient and transparent citizen would do I found 5 credentialed officers with their guns clutched close to their rotund bodies. I must have been a threat standing there in my underwear at 6 AM. Of course, a news reporting team had already set up the lighting and cameras for sensationalism.
“Yes, gentlemen, how can I help you this morning?” “Mr. Harkey we are here to serve you this warrant and begin an investigation on behalf of the Federal Bureau of Social Engineering & Compliance. It is sometimes referred to as the ‘FBSEC.’
We have been reviewing your emails and online presence as we regularly do and found that your social media interaction with perceived friends is troubling. Mr. Harkey, you have been warned in the past that you are only allowed to possess a few ‘personal relationships.’ We have no problem with your efforts in pursuing superficial friendships on social media because we can easily monitor and control those. Superficial relationships are fine because we know that you will not become close enough to engage in an in-depth conversation and possibly form any adversarial opinions or plans against the establishment of government.
We have learned that you work in what we refer to as a ‘private capitalist-based business enterprise,’ and that you should be aware that we have strict rules about keeping your relationships at a distance. There are rules of conduct you must subscribe too. The committee has reviewed all your online comments, views, and opinions. We analyzed your views for possible subversive intentions. Our computers have sifted through 100’s of hours of information from your personal devices. Our committee found that your opinions and actions are disturbing. We have a program you that you must attend to help you conform back to what we the government deem acceptable.”
“Sir, I was always taught in my education from childhood through college that we live in a free county. I was taught that I possessed the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. With liberty, I was taught that I am free to live on my own within society and protected from oppressive restrictions imposed by government authority. I was taught that the opposite of liberty is tyranny, which refers to the cruel and oppressive government. I was taught that the government has no right to the arbitrary use of power and control to force subjugation upon me. Sir, what you are forcing upon me is an encroachment upon my liberty.”
“Mr. Harkey, you may think whatever you want, but we in the government still possess the ultimate power over your actions, thoughts, and reflections. You are required to conform to all standards created by the Bureau, period! The warrant we are serving upon you requires you to show up at the Federal Bureau of Social Engineering & Compliance headquarters, for an interview. An officer of the bureau will thoroughly interview you and we will evaluate your responses. You will then be rehabilitated and brought back into conformity.
Our rehab is a 24-month re-education conformity program if you refuse, you will undergo an electroshock treatment program. For the rest of your days, you will be tended to by thoughtful government employee labor union members. The choice is yours, Mr. Harkey!”
The next day I found myself in my first therapy session with a recent graduate from Berkeley whose major was behavioral psychology.
He asked me what I was interested in, and what made me happy? I paused; “I like my family, kids, puppies, kitties, horses, motorcycles, rock, country and western music, reading, writing, hamburgers drinking beer with my buddies, and that good old-fashioned habit of making money, to support my family and all my interest.”
The therapist had a look of alarm and bewilderment and when he gained back his composure, he said: “Mr. Harkey all your interests sound so self-severing!” He suggested that I might not understand myself, and what is required to adapt, into today’s modern culture. Giving to the less fortunate and those who refused to work for themselves was a good cause. With 24 months of counseling, he suggested that I could straighten out my life and conform to the “Federal Bureau’s” regulations. He explained that the program is covered under my government medical insurance plan and that I will not have to pay for his counseling. He stated that he could take all the time needed because his expenses were paid by the taxpayers.
“Mr. Harkey tell me about the types of music that you like. Your music selection could offer a pretext to your tendencies of toxic masculinity, gender privilege, gender identity, or tendencies toward misogyny and homophobia.”
“Sir, music may or may not reflect one’s values but reflects one’s interest in a particular subject or emotion. I might like the rhythm, beat or uniqueness of chosen lyrics or orchestration by multiple musicians. It is rare that someone would listen to a song, then engage in a subversive act. Music is an art-form, and in most cases, listening will stimulate emotion, such as anger, sadness, happiness, love, affection, sexuality, mystery, perplexing, or reflection. Only people who sing or chant about radical ideologies such as certain religions or political ideologies may follow through with some madness or subversive action.
Simple songs like Louie, Louie by the Kingsman, White Rabbit with Jefferson Airplane and Grace Slick, Jim Morrison and the Doors, John Denver, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis Presley, John Lennon, and dozens of others have been investigated, and harassed endlessly by the FBI, for presumed subversive intentions. Some suggest that the government may have been involved in the death of John Lennon!”
“Mr. Harkey, there is no need to be upset, all I am asking for is for you to please describe of few your favorite songs. But, remember, that if they violate conformity codes that we have discussed, we will require that you give them up, as part of your wellness and cultural reform program. Can you tell me a few of your favorite songs?”
1) Born to be wild, by Steppenwolf
2) Macho Man, by Village People
3) Theme from Shaft, by Isaac Hayes
4) Under My Thumb, by The Stones
5) I Like This Bar, by Toby Keith
6) Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers by, ZZ Top
7) Give me Shelter, by The Rolling Stones
8) November Rain, by Guns and Roses
9) Sweet Child of Mine, by Guns and Roses
9) Welcome to the Jungle, by Guns and Roses
10) There is a Stranger in My House, by Ronny Millsap
“The ultimate question, Mr. Harkey, is whether there are possible subversive intentions in your selection of music. Are you going to engage in any activities that might undermine the power and authority of the established government? ‘Let’s start with the lyrics of Born to be Wild.
It appears Mr. Harkey, that you have the desire to live free, as in perhaps some renegade lifestyle and dictate life upon your own terms? Is that true, Mr. Harkey?”
“Yes, doctor it is. I believe that if I live my life to the fullest that I will affect the most people in a positive way and serve as a role model. I want to show all others respect and dignity but be left to my own conscientiousness and my own existence.”
“Mr. Harkey lets move forward to your next selection, I am appalled by the lyrics of ‘Macho Man.’
‘Body wanna feel my body,
body, baby, such a thrill, my body
Body wanna touch my body,
body, baby, it’s too much, my body
Body, check it out, my body, body,
baby, don’t you doubt, my body
Body, talking about my body, body,
baby, checking out my body’
Mr. Harkey, I cannot believe you would listen to such a crass song. This song lacks sensitivity, refinement, and intelligence. So far both songs will not pass conformance regulations. This song suggests a high level of toxic masculinity. Let’s review ‘Under My Thumb’ by the Rolling Stones perhaps it will pass the test.
‘Under my thumb
The girl who once had me down
Under my thumb
The girl who once pushed me around
It’s down to me
The difference in the clothes she wears
Down to me, the change has come,
She’s under my thumb
Ain’t it the truth babe?
Under my thumb
The squirmin’ dog who’s just had her day
Under my thumb
A girl who has just changed her ways’
Mr. Harkey, do you hear how degrading this song is? To suggest that a girl is under someone’s thumb. This song suggests gender degradation and suggests that you are a misogynist.
We should always hold women in the highest regard, Mr. Harkey. You should form a new habit of the only listing to music that reflects gender neutrality.
Mr. Harkey, I already have enough evidence we don’t need to go any further. I am giving you a disclosure document which you are required to sign. It states that you agree to conform to the regulations created by the ‘Federal Bureau of Social Engineering & Compliance.’ It is our job to write regulations we deem in your best interest. We require that you get one of our government microchips installed so we can control your every move. Violators who do not conform will be both persecuted and prosecuted.
We possess a monopoly power on all aspects of your life. We create over-sight agencies, sometimes overlapping, and sometimes conflicting, to write, implement, and compel compliance standards. There are an additional 20,000,000 million retired government employees who were instrumental in our history of creating this complex infrastructure. If you are an objector who does not comply and refers to this as tyranny, you will be disciplined and be forced to comply in one way or another.
Read and sign this document now so we can continue your rehabilitation program and get you back to your happy government approved life.”
As I quickly looked around for some type of escape a loud siren starts to blare, it was if these government workers could already read my thoughts! You could never imagine my relief when I realized that it was my alarm clock waking me from my deeply orchestrated dream.
