The Age of Manufactured Outrage and Phony Sensationalism

Posted on by Dan Harkey

This article is an extension of my prior article, “The Official Narrative about Protest, Riots & Mayhem is a Lie”. This article can be found on www.danharkey.com as the first article in the section “Humor & Perspective.”

America has become fairyland of lunacy where multiple polarized forces now live in a pretense world.  It is now common to hire a rent-a-group of people (crowd), who will organize and form public relations action plans to fully implement and execute relating to whatever issue that the promoter pays for.   Activities may include spreading propaganda (true or false), artificial outrage, or displaying support for or against a social cause or a politician.

Sensationalism, disgust, and outrage are bundled in scurrying activities and sold to the public in the form of an illusion. Special interest groups now openly hire others (actors and thugs) to create illusions that now dominate mainstream media and everything around us. It is a wild-wild west melodrama of false pretenses.  Yes, the characters (actors and thugs) are faced with presenting supporting or exaggerated acts of conflicts that appeal to the emotions of the audience, the public.

Do you remember the movie Network that was released in 1976?  Many of you may not remember the famous speech from this award-winning movie “Network.”  The on-camera presentation was shouted out on the silver screen by a brilliant Australian born actor Peter Finch who played the role of newscaster Howard Beale.  In his real-life Finch suffered a fatal heart attack in 1977 one year after his sensational acting in the film that would lead him to win the first ever posthumous Oscar for best actor.  He is remembered as a hard-drinking, hell-raising womanizer for his performances on and off the screen. As a side note, some might even suggest that he wasted time when he was not pursuing hard-drinking and womanizing.

“I don’t have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It is a depression. Everybody is out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel’s worth; banks are going bust; shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there is nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there is no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching TV while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that’s the way it’s supposed to be. We know things are bad – worse than bad. They’re crazy.”

This movie was an example where one person took a risk as a leader and served as a vehicle to call attention to all the shortcomings of the time.  Well, things have changed since that time.  Promoters no longer need to take a leadership role. Social activists are no longer required to move to the front of the lines like a military infantry, where there is risk and danger is lurking.   They are no longer required to take the risk of getting harmed, arrested, or even killed.  They can remain in the background like timid feeders in the lagoon. Timid feeders never venture into the broad deep sea beyond, for they might be eaten by a larger fish or a shark. They stay is shallow waters and forage what they can get.

Today, promoters merely go online and hire an independent group of people from one of many companies that will serve as a front for any cause. The company will supply personnel (character actors and thugs), give employees benefits, train, provide transportation including large buses, and schedule all activities for a flat fee. The icing on the cake is when the promotional program can deliver additional non-paid advocates or social activists who think that all participants are ideologically driven like them. They may not even be aware that phony paid advocates are present.

The public may think that a large grouping of the US population has now decided to advocate socialism and/or communism.  But rest assured that most all the current outrage, demonstrations, rioting, and mayhem is being paid for by narrowly focused leftist special interest and ideologues.  $5,000 a month with benefits is common for a parasite whose values systems are for sale. Yes, these groups of people are parasites because they stand for nothing and get paid to destroy other people’s property and lives.

These large-scale political protests are fraudulent scams on the public. They are false advertising and bait and switch strategies. A well-funded “Protest Package” can include staged “car/dumpster fires upgrade options available” “broken store front windows included in all EZ-RIOT packages,” and “included free tweets comparing the size of your protest to others.”  These circus performances are usually nothing more than rent-a mob. Just think of all the fun you could have by spoofing the public if you had billions like George Soros and his philanthropic agency, the Open Society Foundations, and other ideologically deranged wealthy foundations, and supporters like MotherJones.com and MoveOn.org. According to the Wikipedia, Soros has apparently donated $32 billion to his philanthropic organizations.

How about staged walkouts, minimum wage protest, working conditions protest, Wall Street protests, union protests for higher wages and benefits, or student protests about college tuition.

Start with a few companies:

1)    Protestjobs.com

a)    Politically agnostic-we do not care what your political affiliation is or what your movement is about.  You supply the money; we supply the protesters.

b)    Connect-We connect a network of professional protesters with protest organizers using advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to determine the best match.

c)    Secret payment-No need to worry about 1099 or W9s. We organize and securely pay all the protesters with secret Bitcoin currency.

d)    Millions of professional protesters are ready to march and show support for any cause!

2)    Crowds on Demand

a)    Your home for protest, rallies, advocacy, audiences, PR stunts and political events.  Services available nationwide.

b)   We provide our clients with protest, rallies, flash-mobs, paparazzi events, and other inventive PR stunts.

c)    We provide everything including the people, the materials, and even the ideas.

d)   We can provide 100s of people to come to action in just days.

e)    We can execute operations with as little as 24-48 hours’ notice in every city in the US or with 72-96-hours’       notice in any rural or suburban location.

3)    Black Lives Matter  their movement has started #CutTheCheckhashtag.

4)    Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN)

a)    ACORN was the nation’s largest community organization of low and moderate-income families, working together for social justice and stronger communities until they were taken down in sting operations.

b)   From Judicial Watch.  “The crime-infested community organization famous for voter registration fraud blames right-wing attacks for its demise as covert branches pop up under different names, allowing the original group to keep much of its public funding.

The Obama-backed Association of Community Organizations for Reform   Now (ACORN) has conveniently changed its name to shed its criminal history, but the scandal-plagued leftist group is still alive and quite active. ACORN, which annually rakes in millions of U.S. tax dollars, is hardly folding as the charity’s sympathy-seeking leaders claim.

Instead, the group is simply branching out under aliases while directors blame a series of well-orchestrated, relentless, well-funded, right-wing attacks for its collapse. Partisan operatives have caused a huge decline in revenue and stripped ACORN’s ability to raise crucial resources, they assert, while conveniently omitting the nonprofit’s criminal history.”

c)    Coordinating sit-ins at offices for successor organizations and Organization of Black Struggle.

5)    DemandProtest.com

a)    We assemble movements.

b)   From grassroots organizations to advocacy groups, we seed the narratives and gather the audience you desire.  When your strategy demands paid protest, we organize and bring it to life.

c)    Offer demonstrations, movements, intelligence, and training.

The business model of rent-a-mobs has doubled in size each year and now tens of thousands of performers and thugs for several events each day in dozens of cities around the US.  The industry has now spread out to the international playing field. There is a sprawling landscape for manufactured support services.

According to Dr. Edward Walker, Professor of Sociology at UCLA and author of Grassroots for Hire, “services can include mass letter-writing or emailing, ghostwriting blog spots, locating and analyzing data on likely sympathizers for your cause-even creating a whole new ‘front’ or ‘third party’ organizations to serve as a mouthpiece for the campaign’s funder.”

How should the public react to all this massive fraudulent outrage and phony sensationalism? How do they react when they discover that a large percentage of media content thrown in front of them daily is manufactured and phony?  As I have said repeatedly, first turn off the TV.  Second, be selective about your news outlets, newspapers, and on-line media sources. Check them out.  If you notice sensationalism as a norm eliminate that source.  Always approach any content from the mainstream media with skepticism. Also, discuss this issue with your friends and family and spread the truth about the systemic media fraud that has become so prevalent. You are not alone in your disgust.  Remember that these clowns will only be able to affect people who are unaware of the fraud, they are sometimes classified as low information voters. Or, as in Network the newscaster Howard Beale told people to just go to the window, open it, stick your head out and yell: “I am Mad as Hell and I’m Not Going to Take it Anymore.”
