Listen to what I say, and do what I ask.  And I don’t expect any bullshit talkback.  Do you understand?  He confessed that sometimes he doesn’t appreciate himself or his relationship with his wife.  I reminded him that everything changed when he ate the wedding cake, which was meant to symbolize their union but instead became a catalyst for their discord.  She was good-looking and cunning. 

It could be a match made in heaven or hell.  However, if he chose to eliminate this one, the next one would be the same, with a different set of problems to deal with, resulting in a cycle of failed relationships and unfulfilled promises. 

Settle down, buckaroo, the ride is long-term, and it gets better when both of you remove your egos from the equation.  You will eventually become best friends, or at least tolerable friends, and rely on each other for mutual support and understanding.  Life commitments rarely turn out as you dreamed of.
